TV Pick of the Day – Wednesday 21 September

Film fan and avid boat avoider, Zoe Butcher has another reason to avoid said vessel with tonight’s pick…

What is it: Jaws (1975)

When is it: ITV4, 10:05pm

When the police chief suspects that a great white shark is munching its way through the good citizens of Amity but the mayor refuses to listen, he enlists the help of a marine scientist and a shark-hunting fisherman to stop the feisty fish in its tracks.

You weren’t planning on any open water swimming this week were you? No? Good, you’re safe to watch this 70s classic Spielberg movie then. It’s my favourite Spielberg film for a reason and, helped by the fabulous John Williams theme tune, still has the power to make me jump out of my skin, despite having seen it countless times. Worth a watch any day of the week.

If, however, killer sharks aren’t your thing (weirdo) then cracking thriller Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal is on Film4 at 9pm.

Watch it for: The music, the kick-ass shark, those fair Spanish ladies.
